August House was founded with the intentions of making incredibly energetic music and matching it with an equally dynamic live show, and being described by one columnist as “explosives in human disguise” shows the band is getting their point across.  “Once each one of them got behind their weapon of choice – Everit on vocals, Nick on guitar, Hayz on bass and Dennis on drums – the stage exploded.” (anarchymusic.net, March 2007).

August House formed in 2005 when two transplants from Colorado (Nick and Everit) crossed paths with two Southern California natives (Hayz and Dennis) in a balmy rehearsal studio in Anaheim, CA.  That inaugural meeting was all it would take for the four band members to know they had each found what they were looking for.

Throughout 2005, they recorded a series of songs that eventually made up the band’s first self-produced EP entitled "Tabla Rasa".  Since then the band has distributed over 1000 copies of Tabla Rasa and music from this EP has gone on to be played in several major radio markets including Denver's KTCL, Los Angeles’ FREE FM and Phoenix's KUPD.  One review of the Tabla Rasa EP stated  "…the songs sport intelligent lyrics that are sung instead of just screamed into a microphone. The terrific rhythm section keeps the beat throbbing along…By the end of the album you feel like you've really listened to something cool and then you have to decide if you want to listen again or just turn the player off and let the songs resonate in your head for a while..." (rockoncolorado.com, March 2006).

2006 saw the follow up to their first EP with "Appraisal", the second self-produced EP from August House.  Recorded in their home town of Orange County, CA with Daniel Castleman (As I Lay Dying) and mastered by Louie Teran at Marcussen Mastering (AFI, Snow Patrol, POD), 'Appraisal' displays a maturity in the band's songwriting.
